Challenges

Performing construction activities while school was in session was an on-going challenge. Efforts to control noise, coordinate deliveries, and maintain a safe site between workers and school students and employees played a vital part in the successful completion of this project.

Solutions

Constant and open communication was essential. Weekly meetings were held with the school to ensure all parties involved were pleased with the progress and that expectations with regard to noise, vehicular traffic, and safety were being met. Daily meetings were held before the start of each day between contractor and subcontractors to re-emphasize the importance to maintain these objectives and to also convey any changes to the school’s schedule or needs that day.
